Let’s take a minute and talk about music
In the ‘The Waste Land’ of modern music, amidst the beats and rhythms that reverberate through our headphones and speakers, there seems to be a conspicuous absence—a void where spirituality once resided.
As the music industry churns out hit after hit, catering to the ever-changing tastes of the masses, it's easy to overlook the deeper questions that music has traditionally explored: questions of existence, meaning, and the human soul.
In the age of commercialism and consumerism, where success is measured in streams and downloads, many artists have forsaken the spiritual dimensions of music in favor of more marketable themes. And this is quite understandable.
Lyrics that once pondered the mysteries of the universe, that sought to understand the human condition and our place in the cosmos, have been replaced by shallow platitudes and superficial narratives.
Gone are the days when music served as a vessel for transcendence (I think now and then about the music made by The Doors), a pathway to the divine.
Instead, we find ourselves inundated with songs that glorify something that seems like materialism but really isn’t, a misinterpretation of hedonism, and instant gratification.
The pursuit of fame, fortune, and fleeting pleasures has become the anthem of our time, drowning out the whispers of the soul.
But beneath the surface of this cultural noise, a yearning persists—a longing for something deeper, something more meaningful.
Are you not aware?
We find ourselves craving music that speaks to the depths of our being, that touches the soul and stirs the spirit. We long for melodies that resonate with the eternal rhythms of the universe, that remind us of our interconnectedness with all of creation.
Fortunately, amidst the sea of mediocrity, there are still artists who dare to delve into the realms of the spiritual, who use their music as a conduit for profound insights and transformative experiences.
These are the visionaries who understand that music has the power to elevate consciousness, to awaken dormant potentials, and to unite hearts and minds in a shared journey of discovery.
In their hands, music becomes more than just entertainment—it becomes a sacred art, a sacred science, a sacred path. It becomes a vehicle for self-expression, self-discovery, and self-transcendence. It becomes a mirror that reflects the depths of our souls and the heights of our aspirations.
As listeners, we have a choice.
We can continue to passively consume the empty calories of commercialized music, or we can seek out the nourishment of music that nourishes the spirit.
We can choose, and this is indeed hard work, to support artists who dare to explore the frontiers of consciousness, who challenge us to think, to feel, and to awaken.
In the end, the soul of music is in our hands.
Let us choose wisely, for in the melodies and harmonies that we embrace, we shape not only our culture but also our destiny.
Let us reclaim the lost soul of modern music and rediscover the sacredness that lies at its heart and our own.
